The Aero building automation platform
Building automation you actually own.
Aero brings BACnet and Metasys N2 buildings under modern supervisory control, with edge controllers, an on-premises supervisor and secure remote access. No point licensing. No annual SMA.
- BACnet/IP
- BACnet MS/TP
- Metasys N2
- HTML5 AeroView
- Outbound-only mTLS
- 0point licenses
No point or device licensing
AeroNode and AeroServer carry no capacity tiers and no license files. Add devices and points as the job needs them.
- $0annual SMA
No annual SMA
Firmware and software updates are included. You never pay a maintenance agreement to stay current or secure.
- 0inbound ports
Outbound-only connectivity
Nodes dial out over authenticated, encrypted connections. Supervision and remote access work without opening the building firewall.
- HTML5no Java, no plug-ins
HTML5 everywhere
AeroView runs in any modern browser. No Java, no thick client, and no workstation licenses to engineer or operate a node.
The product line
One platform, from the mechanical room to the portfolio.
Every Aero product shares one data model and one wire protocol, so a thermostat, a controller and a campus supervisor behave like parts of the same system, because they are.
Supervisory controllers
AeroNode
Fanless DIN-rail controllers with four serial trunks, dual Ethernet and onboard I/O. They run logic, schedules, trends and alarms locally.
- AeroNode 485
- AeroNode 232
- Wi-Fi · LTE · NVMe options
On-premises supervisor
AeroServer
Aggregate every node on a site into one station, with a site-wide alarm console, graphics and role-based access. Unlimited nodes.
- Windows desktop or service
- Unlimited nodes & points
- No annual SMA
Controller + 10.1″ display
AeroNode Touch
A complete AeroNode behind an optically bonded 10.1-inch touchscreen.
ExploreBACnet thermostats
AeroStat
Configurable MS/TP thermostats with up to 15 I/O and optional occupancy, CO₂ and Wi-Fi.
ExploreUnitary controllers
Coming soonAeroUC
Programmable BACnet controllers for VAV boxes, fan coils, heat pumps and rooftop units.
ExploreLicensing
Stop paying to keep what you already bought.
Most supervisory platforms charge for capacity up front, then charge again every year to stay current. Aero doesn't. The controller you install is the controller you own.
- No point or device licensing on AeroNode or AeroServer
- No annual SMA to receive updates
- No license keys tied to hardware
Describes common industry licensing practices; specific terms vary by manufacturer and agreement. AeroConnect cloud remote access is an optional subscription service.
Architecture
Edge-first. Outbound-only. Open protocols.
AeroNodes do the work at the edge and keep running on their own. Supervisors and the cloud add visibility, but they never reach into the building.
- The edge is autonomous
- Logic, schedules, trends and alarms run on the node. If the network drops, the building keeps running.
- Nodes always dial out
- Each node keeps one outbound, encrypted connection to AeroServer or AeroConnect, and all supervision travels over it. Nothing connects in to the building.
- Standards at the field level
- BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP and Metasys N2 on the field side, plus a BACnet server so existing front ends can see Aero points.
- 1
Operators
Any browser, on site or remote. AeroView is pure HTML5, with no Java and no thick client.
- 2
AeroServer · AeroConnect
On-premises supervisor and optional cloud relay for remote access.
- 3
Outbound mTLS
Every node dials out over one mutual-TLS stream. No inbound firewall rules.
- 4
AeroNode
Supervisory controllers that run logic, schedules, trends and alarms locally.
- 5
Field buses
BACnet MS/TP, BACnet/IP and Metasys N2 devices, including AeroStat thermostats.
Capabilities
Everything a supervisory controller should do, done in the browser.
AeroView is the same HTML5 interface on every node and on AeroServer. Commission, program, operate and troubleshoot any node from a browser, with nothing to install.
Driver framework
Each field protocol runs as its own supervised driver process, so a misbehaving device or a hung serial port can't take down the controller. Every serial port is driver-agnostic, and new protocols arrive as signed firmware updates.
Program sheets
Drag-and-wire control logic with live values: about 40 blocks including PID, formula, delay, edge detection and alarm blocks. Package proven sequences as versioned macros and reuse them across jobs.
Schedules
Weekly schedules with date-range exceptions and a month view. Device schedules stay in sync with BACnet Schedule objects, and node schedules command points at the priority you choose.
Trending on the edge
Interval or change-of-value logging with per-point retention, stored on the node itself. Multi-point charts and CSV export in any browser.
Alarm management
Point limit and state alarms with delays and deadbands, device-offline alarms and logic-driven alarms, with a full acknowledge/clear lifecycle that writes acknowledgements back to BACnet devices.
Dashboards & equipment graphics
Build dashboards from gauges, trends, alarm lists, setpoint adjusters and floor plans. Generate equipment graphics from 11 templates (AHU, VAV, RTU, FCU, boiler, chiller and more).
BACnet server
Publish Aero points as BACnet/IP objects so an existing front end, whether Niagara, Metasys or another BACnet workstation, can read and command them during a phased migration.
Signed firmware, automatic rollback
Every firmware release is cryptographically signed and verified before it installs. If a new version fails to start, the node automatically restores the previous one.
Integration
Speaks the building's language, old and new.
Supervise modern BACnet systems and legacy Metasys N2 trunks from the same controller, and hand points to any BACnet front end during a phased migration.
BACnet/IP
ShippingFull client: discovery, polling and COV, priority writes, foreign-device registration, device alarms and schedules.
BACnet MS/TP
ShippingNative RS-485 trunks on every AeroNode, with a frame log for troubleshooting.
Metasys N2
ShippingN2 Open supervision: address scan discovery, point reads, and output overrides with release.
BACnet server
ShippingSelected points published as BACnet/IP objects, plus global schedules as BACnet Schedule objects.
Every AeroNode serial port is driver-agnostic. Our goal is to support the open RS-485 and RS-232 protocols found in buildings through Aero drivers, delivered to installed controllers as signed firmware updates.
On the driver roadmap
- Modbus RTU (RS-485) and Modbus TCP
- RS-232 serial device drivers
- Additional open RS-485 protocols
- BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC) transport
Solutions
Built for the jobs integrators actually get.
Supervisory upgrades
A Niagara alternative
Replace capacity licenses and SMA renewals with controllers you own outright, and run both systems side by side over BACnet during the transition.
Learn moreLegacy retrofit
Metasys N2 retrofit
Keep the N2 field controllers and wiring that still work. Put an AeroNode on the trunk and bring the building into a modern, browser-based system.
Learn morePortfolios
Multi-site portfolios
One standard for every building. Outbound-only connectivity and AeroConnect put the whole portfolio a click away, with no VPNs to maintain.
